In 2009, the interior was completely demolished and rebuilt at the base of the Bank of America Tower, making history as Broadway’s very first LEED Gold-certified, environmentally sustainable theater. It was officially renamed in 2010 to honor the legendary composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim.
